Madden Raparees                          1-10
Maghery                                       1-19

Commiserations to Brendan, Conor, Michael and the lads on the defeat today. It was always going to be a tough fixture against the reigning champions. Madden fought well throughout the game and a period towards the end of the first half where Maghery recorded ten points in a row was to be the turning point in this game. With ten points in it at the break, Madden came storming back to reduce the deficit to four points with some fine points from Niall Grimley and an Aron McKenna goal. A late surge of scores from the champions including a goal of their own saw them run out winners on the day, but not as convincing as the scoreline would suggest. Madden have been drawn agains Tir na nOg in the first round of the senior Qualifiers, the game will take place on Sunday 27th August in Granemore with a throw in time of 12.45pm. We hope to see many of you out once again in support of our senior team.

Minor Championship
Our Minor team under the guidance of Brendan McGuinness, Philip Mallon and Johnny Woods recorded a fine two point win over O'Doirnin Blues. The lads now progress through to the Quarter-Finals of the competition where they will face Brian Boru in Madden on Monday 21st August at 7.30pm.

U- 14's
Our U-14 side welcomed Derrynoose Blues to Raparee Park in what was one of the most enjoyable and entertaining games of football seen this long time. The game finished 4-09 to 2-09 in favour of the Raparees and could have gone either way really were it not for the stern performances of the entire full back line in Jamie Smith, Joe Hughes and Cathal Maguire. That result now sets the lads up lovely at a tilt at league success. Madden have three games remaining and need to win all three to be in with a chance of some silverware, up next is a trip to Newtownhamilton where Brian Boru await.

U-12.5's Moy Tournament
Madden put up a great battle at the Moy tournament. We looked the part in our new polo tops courtesy of Borderline Tiles. We couldn't have asked for a tougher group playing Galbally, Kildress, Magherafelt and the Adrian McGuckin managed Ballinderry. The lads gave it all they had and with a bit of luck could have made the Quarter Finals. Sadly it was not to be but we are all mighty proud of their efforts on the day.

Irish News All-Stars
Congratulations to our Senior Footballer, Niall Grimley on being nominated for an Irish News Ulster All-Star award. Niall has been rewarded with this nomination through his performances during the summer in an Armagh jersey. Niall was particularly impressive in the games against Fermanagh where he registered 0-06 and against Tipperary where he scored 0-08. An outstanding feat considering Niall was playing in centre field.
Niall's performances on the field have got him this far but he now needs your help. In order for Niall to secure the All-Star he requires YOUR Vote. Votes can be cast through selecting Niall in Midfield for your Irish News Ulster All-Star team. You can select your team through the link below;

You will need to enter your name and an email address before the selection process/voting can be complete and the deadline for submissions is Friday 18th August.  In entering the team you will also be entered into a competition for a VIP night at the awards ceremony in the Armagh City Hotel on Thursday 7th September. Finally, Good Luck Niall from all at Madden Raparees G.F.C.

Weekly Lotto
This week’s winning numbers were 1, 6, 8 and 13.

Unfortunately there was no winner of the jackpot, there were however four winners of £10 in the form of Sheila Grimley, Peter Grimley, Peadar Grimley and Anne-Marie Lennon.

Next week’s jackpot is £8,000.

The executive committee has made the conscious decision to cap the lotto at £8,000 until such times as it is won. The £50 usually added to the prize fund will now be added to the new lotto prize which will begin to accumulate value herein. For example if the lotto is not won for another six months, the prize for the existing lotto will remain at £8,000, however the 'new' lotto will begin at £2,200. Etc.
