Seniors
Friday evening saw our Senior Side travel to Annaghmore for the final league game of the season. The game proved to be nothing more than Championship preparation for both sides given that neither Madden nor Annaghmore could be promoted or relegated following results earlier in the week. There was not much between the sides with both teams sharing the first six points of the encounter three apiece with Maddens coming from Ciaran Rafferty, Barry Mallon and Niall Smith. Annaghmore then kicked two consecutive points to see them two points ahead, however this advantage would soon be reduced as an impressive Aron McKenna strike to the top corner of he goals raised the green flag which saw Madden take a one point lead once more. The hosts fought back with a point to leave just the minimum between the sides midway through the first half. A second Ciaran Rafferty point gave Madden some breathing room before three in a row from Annaghmore saw them take the lead. A Liam Grimley free kick drew the game level before a final score from the men n red and white meant they went in at the interval leading by a single point on a Half Time Score of Madden Raparees 1-05 to Annaghmore Pearse’s 0-09.
Both teams emerged for the second half and the hosts continued where they had left off scoring two in a row to give them a three point lead. A second Liam Grimley free-kick had reduced the deficit to two points only for the North Armagh men to soon put it back to three points between the sides. The game was soon level with wing half forward Ryan Morgan sending the ball to the back of the net eventually following a goal mouth scramble. This was just what Madden needed to give them some impetus to kick on and record their ninth victory of the season. The next attack saw Aron McKenna get his second goal of the contest with another sublime finish through a wall or red and white jerseys. Further points from Ciaran Rafferty and a Kyle Morgan free-kick saw Madden go five points clear of their opponents. Annaghmore scored three on the bounce again and could have even went a point ahead had it not been for a great save from substitute goalkeeper Paul McIlvanna. An Aron McKenna penalty kick saw Madden regain their five point lead, the ball was finished low into the bottom right hand corner of the net in what was a cool finish and in reality the opposing goalkeeper stood no chance of saving it. Annaghmore kicked the final two points of the game but they were little more than consolation scores as Madden ran out three point winners on a Full Time Score of Madden Raparees 4-08 to Annaghmore Pearse’s 0-17.
Madden will now have almost two weeks off competitive action as they begin to step up their preparations with the Senior Championship looming and a mouth-watering tie against defending champions, Maghery on August 13th in Abbey Park.

U-8's
Our U-8 team travelled to Derrynoose on Tuesday night for the second time this year for their go-games fixtures. Summer holidays restricted the availability of players and we were able to only field one side. This young team are developing well and this is evident each and every time they take the pitch. They are back in training again on Friday night working on their basic skills in preparation for the remainder of their games and the highly anticipated journey to Moy in Co. Tyrone for the annual festival of football.

U-12.5's
On Sunday morning our U-12.5 team travelled to Lurgan to play St Paul's in a match re-fixed from the Saturday afternoon owing to Armagh's match against Kildare. The game was an extremely entertaining one with very few between the two sides for much of the game. Vital goals from Aaron Grimley on his debut and Pauric Morgan in the second half saw Madden over the line recording a four point victory.

U-14's
On Tuesday evening past our U-14 side welcomed Eire Óg to Raparee Park and recorded a comfortable 5-10 to 3-02 victory over their opponents with everyone who put on the red and black jersey on the night playing superbly. The lads now have a week off before returning to action the following week against Derrynoose at home.

U-16's
On Thursday evening our U-16 team travelled to South Armagh to play Dromintee in the league. The lads were 0-09 to 0-05 up at half time however they had been playing with the aid of a strong wind. Madden had to dig very deep against in the second half against a good side, thankfully they had it in them and recorded 1-10 to 1-06 win. New player  Josh King was impressive showing very well but overall it was a great team performance. This result will leave the lads and their management team feeling confident ahead of their Championship Semi-Final on Thursday night.

Minors
Our minor team we're due to host Loughgilly Gaels however the game was cancelled an hour before kick-off due to no referee being available to cover the fixture. It will be rescheduled for later in the season. They lads are back in action again next week away to St Enda's.

Armagh Representation
Congratulations to our Senior Footballer, Niall Grimley who starred in Armagh's victory against Kildare on Saturday Evening. Niall started the game at midfield and scored two points coming from placed balls. He was also involved in the build up to a number of other scores and was a big physical presence around the middle of the park. Armagh now travel to Croke Park again this coming Saturday against Tyrone in and All-Ireland Quarter Final for the first time since 2014. All at Madden Raparees hope that Niall can continue his rich vein of form and help Armagh to prolong their summer and reach the Semi-Finals. Good Luck Niall from all at Madden Raparees G.F.C.

This week’s winning numbers were 1, 9, 20 and 23. Unfortunately there was no winner of the jackpot, there were however four winners of £10 in the form of Ciatriona Morgan, Arthur McKenna, Leila Hughes and Jacqueline Smith. Next week’s jackpot is £7,900.00.
The lotto forms a valuable source of income to support the club alongside any major fundraisers it pursues throughout the year. We would encourage all our members, supporters and players either at home or abroad to avail of the wonderful online facility and help to support Madden Raparees G.F.C in any way they can.
